Hypnosis

Have you ever been hypnotised?

Yes, you certainly have. The trance like state of hypnosis, is very natural and it’s already a part of your day.

Anytime you day dream, read a book, or watch a movie, when you are absorbed in your inner world, then you are in a trance-like state.  You know that the story you are reading or watching is fiction, you know you are perhaps at home, comfortable on your sofa, but internally, you are removed from all that.  You may be excited or affected by what is happening to the characters in the story.  Your heart racing in the car chase or feeling emotional in the love scene.  Your imagination takes you on an inner journey.  Of course you can come to full awareness any time you need to.  You can stop what you’re doing any time, answer your front door, respond immediately to the fire alarm.   Trance happens sometimes when you’re driving.  Your conscious awareness is daydreaming while your driving skill and instincts carry on driving you safely.   I’m sure there have been times when after you reached your destination, you realize that you don’t remember some of the journey, the twists and turns, the traffic lights.   So self-hypnosis is a completely natural state.

Negative Trance

When we worry about something, we are in negative self-hypnosis.  We run something forward in our minds, imagining something going wrong, or failure of some kind.   We keep rehearsing the bad outcome. Your body reacts to imagination and starts to feel anxious about something that hasn’t even happened yet.  We get more stress and worry more, have difficulty sleeping and then wake up exhausted.  Why not learn to use positive hypnosis instead?

How does hypnosis work?

We trigger our imagination in a positive, successful way, laying the groundwork for success.  We increase our confidence to deal with difficulties and challenges.  We decrease our stress by preparing for good outcomes.  When we change our feelings about something, even an addiction or fear and in doing so we change our lives.

What is it like to be hypnotized?

Generally, it very relaxing, easeful and deeply comfortable.  It isn’t necessary to close the eyes, though that can help you focus better.  You have complete control, stopping the session at any time, perhaps responding to some emergency.  Your secrets are totally safe.  You don’t even have to explain difficult or embarrassing details to work on the change you need.   You can use a professional hypnotist to help you reach your goal more easily and effectively.  Any change you are working on is agreed up front with your hypnotist as you will only absorb what feels right and appropriate for you.  You will reject anything which does not fit with your needs or beliefs.

Professional

Julie Bridson R.N. is an experienced clinician registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and the National Guild of Hypnotists.  Her work in immunization exposed the ignored need for help for people with needle phobia.  This led to extensive study and certification as a hypnotist giving Julie the tools for therapeutic interventions that relieved these phobias and paved the way for these clients, both children and adults, to approach immunization and medical interventions in a positive way.

Now Julie can offer successful therapeutic interventions that deal with anxiety and stress regardless of the source.

Credible

Advances in medicine now recognize hypnosis as a valued clinical intervention free of side effects. Clinical hypnosis is now being systematically researched as a viable medical intervention free from any known side effects and is both cost-effective and time-efficient. The National Guild of Hypnotists implements rigorous standards to ensure the highest professional standards are met by practitioners.
